Indoor Radio WLAN Performance - Pt. II

چکیده
Abstract This paper discusses indoor WLAN DSSS radio range testing relating antenna type, radiated power, and transmitter/receiver separation to the IEEE 802.11 compliance range at the 2.4 GHz ISM band frequencies. Indoor range performance is shown to depend not only on transmit power and transmission rate, but on the product’s response to multipath and obstructions in the environment along the radio propagation path. Consequently, a comparison of the effects of propagation with respect to a WLAN printed antenna and a dipole are investigated in the dense office environment. Finally, to understand propagation effects, a basic overview is presented.

Received Signal Strength Recovery in Green WLAN Indoor Positioning System Using Singular Value Thresholding
Green WLAN is a promising technique for accessing future indoor Internet services. It is designed not only for high-speed data communication purposes but also for energy efficiency. The basic strategy of green WLAN is that all the access points are not always powered on, but rather work on-demand. Though powering off idle access points does not affect data communication, a serious asymmetric ma...

This paper investigates the performance of two candidates for software radio WLAN, reconfigurable OFDM modulation and antenna diversity, in an indoor environment. The scenario considered is a 20m× 10m × 3m room with two base units and one mobile unit. The two base units use omnidirectional antennas to transmit and the mobile unit uses either a single antenna with equalizer, a fixed beamformer w...
